There are a lot of things to look forward to right now. The Rangers are hot. Ian Kinsler is back, and despite the fact Cliff Lee isn't pitching as well, he at must have rubbed off onto C.J. Wilson who's been dominating on the mound.
It was great to turn on College Game Day this morning, and it tell us that College football really is here and the NFL is set to kickoff Thursday night.
Oh, in case you haven't heard, it's probably because you haven't listened and/or just don't care, but the podcast has gone on for over a year, and two weeks after its first anniversary, we'll be celebrating on Sunday Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. CT.
As part of a celebration, we'll have a special guest on who has written a song in honor of the show, and it will be played along with clips of past episodes from the first year to take you back. I don't usually advertise the show in advanced too much, but I do believe this is one you will want to hear.
In other news, the Cards dumped Matt Leinart and they'll go with former Cleveland Brown Derek Anderson. The biggest shock in this is that they released the former 10th overall pick without trading him. Surely they could have gotten someone from the Raiders, Lions or even Seahawks. I'm sure the former Trojan would love to play for his college coach.
Speaking of quarterbacks, Big Ben's suspension was reduced. Again, not a surprise.
We'll stay on the topic of quarterbacks for a minute. I'm excited to see how Garrett Gilbert does trying to fill the shoes of Colt McCoy. If it doesn't work out with Gilbert in UT, the Horns just might turn to Colt's young brother Case McCoy.
Yeah, neither one of them will probably be Colt McCoy, but then again, remember when Vince Young declared for the draft early? We were all saying the next guy in line would never be as good, and then this 10-year old looking freshman steps up, and by his senior year, he's a Heisman candidate twice, and a National Championship.
Yes, McCoy did leave without a championship victory, but heck, we all know he should have had another chance instead of Oklahoma.
Back to baseball, pennant races are heating up and it looks as if the Rangers have secured a playoff spot. It won't be easy regardless of who they play, but believe it or not, I'm kind of hoping for a shot at the Yankees in the first round.
There really is a lot to get excited about the Rangers making the post season for the first time in over a decade.
Just imagine the Rangers in a home playoff game at the same time the Cowboys are playing across the street at home. Man, there really is a lot to get excited about.
Did I mention the Cowboys open up against the Redskins?

| Patrick Crayton won't be scoring any more TD's as a Cowboy |
Apparently Jerry and the coaching staff are banking on Dez Bryant coming back and being productive.
One thing that will make it kind of sad with Crayton being gone is that they boys are getting rid of a former TJC Apache.
