Gilbert Arenas addresses the press

The Hague Sports recently did some serious investigative journalism work and nearly came up empty. It wasn't until the very end of the search that a press release was discovered. In it, Arenas asked for the Drama Queen of the Week Award that is given only on our podcasts. Take a look:

NEW YORK—Gilbert Arenas addressed the media in front of his locker Friday morning, as he displayed his gun collection. “This is the one Plax (Burres) used to shoot himself in the leg with,” he said, as he pointed to a magnum pistol.

He then pulled out what he referred to as “his new baby,” and said,” I was just showing this to Javaris (Crittenton) when he showed me his guns. We’ve been trading guns for a long time and when one of us gets a new one, we show it off.”

When asked if he had a license, he said yes and pulled out his driver’s license. When told he needs a license to for the guns, he simply responded by saying “They can’t arrest me, I’m a basketball player. Actually, I’m John Wayne, LMAO.”

When asked if his motives were really driven by a gambling debt, the Wizards guard replied, “I called 'Uno', and he claimed I didn’t, but no, this has nothing to do with it.

Arenas went on with a rant about how the Wizards should change it’s name back to the Bullets.

“I would love that,” he said, “But more than anything, I would love to be the first of the decade to win the Drama Queen Award.

Arenas then paused in attempt to keep his composure before he broke down and said “What do you want from me people? I can’t make this go away. It’s not easy being the best and when you are, people look to take you down. It’s not fun being rich. I’ll trade it in any day if it means I can win the drama queen award just this once.” He then stormed off yelling, "no one wants it as bad as I do."

So there you have it, Arenas and the NBA really do care.
