The Brady Rule

Hey, I've got a great idea, let's change the NFL to NFFL, for National Flag Football League. The only players wearing flags will be quarterbacks. When going for a sack, you must grab the flag without touching the quarterback himself.

The Brady Rule is ridiculous. Had it been any of the Lions quarterbacks or anyone besides Brady, there's no way Roger Goodell would have made the rule stating that defenders who go to the ground are not allowed to plunge into quarterbacks.

So in other words, if a player falls down, he has no chance of making the play on the quarterback unless he gets back up and the ball hasn't been thrown yet. Yeah, how likely is that? The rule doesn't say he can't tackled a running back from the ground so that just comes to prove the league is worried about the pretty boy QBs.

The league is great but I don't like the fact that it's turning more and more into an offensive league. Defensive games are just as great. Whatever happened to defense wins championships? Do you not recognize the difference between a great defensive battle and a poor offensive battle?

Injuries are going to happen in a physical game and I know you want to decrease the injuries but how much more can you do? You're not allowed to tackle by the collar, you can't hit the opponents head, and now you can't make a play on a quarterback from the ground. Are you serious? Along with the flags, give the quarterbacks a practice jersey so the defense knows not to hit him.

Spring Break in Miami

Yes I spent part of my spring break in Miami, but no, I did not go to the beach. I went to cover my school's basketball team who made it in the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. Yes, SFA fell to Syracuse, but just being there was a heck of an accomplishment and the Orange area great team. Jonny Flynn is extremely talented and will get paid a lot of money to play professionally before you know it.

The Lumberjacks appeared to be nervous since it was their first time on this big of a stage but that doesn't take anything away from their great season. As the 14th seed falling to the 3rd seed, a 15-point loss isn't as bad as it could have been. Congrats to both teams.

Earlier in the year I covered the Jacks' game against A&M and I though that was big. The NCAA put was a whole new level though. When I first transfered to SFA, I never thought I'd be covering a team in the bracket. Even though they lost in the first round, you can't ask for much more.

There were big names in Miami and it was hard not to be star struck. Hopefully this was just the first time I'll be covering an even of this magnitude.
