Super Bowl Prediction

Congrats first of all to the 2009 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class. One thing that makes me feel old is watching athletes' careers unfold, retire, and then see them go into the hall. I remember Rod Woodson like it was yesterday. Why did he play for the 49ers? Who can ever forget Bruce Smith and why did he play for the Redskins? The Passing of Derrick Thomas was shocking and very unfortunate. I can't imagine the numbers he would have put up had this tragedy not occurred.

It's nice to have another Cowboy in the hall, but there are still several more waiting that aren't in yet. Do you want a list? Congrats to Bob Hayes. It won't be long until another Cowboy No. 22 goes in. Yeah, he'll probably go in with Jerry Rice. Of course, I can't forget Ralph Wilson. There should be a stadium named after him...

Once again, I just want to wish everyone a happy and safe Super Bowl Sunday. Please, try not to break the any of the top ten rules. That being said, it's almost time for my pick.

Throughout the playoffs, I've had somewhat a them. Go with your heart or your head because you can't always have it both ways. This is a prime example of that here. I would love to see Kurt Warner lead his team out of the desert and into the promise land again (I know, lame reference but you'll get over it) but that just might be a fairy tale. Of course, though, that's what I would have said about the Cardinals being in this game.

In order for the Cardinals to win, they have to strike fast and strike often. If given the chance, they should select to receive at the beginning and try to take an early 7-0 lead. Go in no huddle hurry up offense and try to catch that Steelers D off guard.

The hard part is the fact it's hard to do once, nonetheless consistently. If they played the way they did against the Eagles and allow them to sneak back in, it's over and Big Ben will be hoisting that trophy once again. They must stay in this all four quarters.

If you're the Steelers, just do what you've been doing. Send a linebacker here, a (long-haired) safety there and maybe even throw in the defensive end here and there. You don't have to bring the house. Cover Larry Fitzgerald like a blanket. He'll have some success but not nearly as much as what he's already seen in this post-season.

The offense might night be quite as good as the Cards' offense, but they have plenty of weapons, and it's going to be enough to get the job done, especially with the defense giving them all that momentum. Pittsburgh, your Steelers are the Champions, again.

Steelers win 34-24.
MVP: Troy Polamalu
