[Photo from ESPN Page 2]It's hard to come up with an original idea these days, especially around the holidays. I thought about writing about what would make the best and worst sports gifts for Christmas but that's been done and my patheticness only allowed room for so much originality. Then I sat down and reflected on the year 2008 in sports and thought about writing a recap of the major highlights but I decided to go a different route. That's too easy and yet, too unoriginal. You can find that on practically any sports media outlet. So instead of going about it that way, I decided to come up with my own Top 10 (that No. 11 doesn't count) Biggest Idiots in sports for 2008. It was hard and I probably left somebody off the list for somebody on it who really didn't deserve it but hey, congrats to those who made it anyway. Here's what I got:
11: Anyone you think I may have left off and/or anyone who may do something extremely stupid in the remaining days of the year 2008.
10. Skip Bayles: First of all, there are several members of the media that could have made this list. I can't watch First Take on ESPN 2 because of him. He's a drama queen looking for attention and says the dumbest things in the world that I don't think anyone can possibly believe. I'd like to think it wasn't possible for someone to be that unintelligent, but then there's Bayless.9. The Detroit Lions: yeah, I know it's not just one individual and it's in a week advanced but the best case scenario for this team is 1-15. No team has ever done that and their about to set another record. They're just preparing that first pick to select Michael Crabtree. Man, I feel sorry for him.

8. Mark Cuban: I was yelling and screaming when he was pushing for the Kidd trade. Then, for just a moment, there was hope as Devan George refused to move to New Jersey. I calmed down a little bit thinking maybe the Cuban was going to let it go. That was stupid of me. I should have known that wasn't going to happen because shortly after that I started cursing the trade that sent Devan Harris to the Nets for Jason Kidd. I can't think of a single good reason the Mavs owner though this would be a good trade. Yes, the key to selling tickets is winning but as far as I'm concerned, Cuban wants to sell tickets first more than he wants to win.
7. The Jones' in Dallas. Yes, this is a two for one deal and it starts with the Owner who gave all that money to the player. Jerry Jones Jones likes to think he can rehabilitate disgruntled athletes and it has cost him. The list of names goes on as does the drama on and off the field. He likes to be in control and we'll see who will be second in command as the head coach for next year real soon. Adam just can't seem to stay out of trouble and he's way overrated on the field. What was Jerry thinking by bringing him into Big D? At best, he would be rusty after a year out of the league. What a pathetic excuse for a human being.
6. Al Davis: Yeah, remember that whole reality show thing? Didn't happen because he kept firing people in charge of the show and as we all know, Davis likes to be in charge of the show and no one wants to work with him. He even tried firing Donald Trump. Davis is off his rocker and will likely be looking for someone else to take over the Raiders Job for another year before looking elsewhere.
5. Anyone in charge of the BCS: Has it ever been any louder or clearer? The BCS is so screwed up it's not even funny. WE NEED A PLAYOFF SYSTEM. None of the arguments against a playoff system are valid. You could still keep the bowl games and the athletes don't have to miss more school than usual. It's not that hard. Just give me playoffs.
4. Brett Favre: Just recently, he had yet another emotional press conference in which he said he
wasn't sure if he was going to be able to make it another year. How many times do we have to hear this? This season isn't even over yet. The only way I'll be able to take the retirement of Brett seriously is when the season starts without him. I love what Favre has done for the game and it's gong to be so weird when he actually does retire but his legendary status isn't enough to give him a pass. On a side note, I swear it was totally unintentional to have Favre at No. 4 but once I realized that, I wasn't going to change it.3. Donovan McNabb: He could perhaps be higher then this. He's always playing the race card and crying a river but that's not why he's here. His horrible clock management is almost enough to get him here as well but as we all know, he didn't know a game can end in a tie. Out of all positions, the quarterback is suppose to lead the offense (for the Eagles though, the leader is Westbrook) and after a decade of playing in this league, he still didn't know. There's no excu
se and he's not getting off the hook.2. Matt Jones: Remember his incident back in the summer? He was pulled over and found cutting up cocaine with a credit card. This guy is an idiot. Must be from Arkansas. This is a prime example of action speaking louder then words.
1. Plaxico Burress: He went from extremely high to rock bottom. It's still fresh in everyone's head, especially the Giants because he let them down. Any athlete want to make the list next year? Just bring a gun into a nightclub. If you want to be No. 1 on the list, accidentally shoot yourself in the leg. You deserve nothing less.
