Four of a Kind

The two quarterbacks lead their teams in what is arguably known as the greatest college football game to this day. They were both Heisman candidates in the 2005-2006 season. They both entered the same draft with expectations that were beyond words.

Vince Young had a great rookie year but a very disappointing second year and it appears to have been more than a sophomore slump. He admitted later that after his rookie season, he was already thinking about retirement. There was talk about whether or not he was going to take his own life and was under the microscope of Nashville police. Man, doesn't sound like someone who's mentally capable of leading his team. That's what Head Coach Jeff Fischer thought too so he benched the former Longhorn and in came Kerry Collins.

Everyone thought that maybe all Matt Leinart needed was time. Maybe that's true but who thought he would still be holding a clip board in his third season? Unlike Young, Leinart's issue wasn't that he was mentally unstable, it's that he wasn't physically capable at the moment. Who knows, maybe he is just one of those college quarterbacks. After all, he didn't attend an NFL game until he signed with Arizona. Although, did anyone think the Cardinals would now be under the leadership of veteran quarterback Kurt Warner?

Unless an injury occurs, both teams are more than likely going to finish the season with the starters they have and possibly going into the next year. Collins and Warner have a lot in common. They're both veteran quarterbacks that have played on several teams and each has made at least one Super Bowl appearance.

Many people forget that Collins was the first overall pick for the Panthers when they first came into existence and many they forget about Collins' Super Bowl appearance with the Giants as they fell to the Ravens. Collins is a guy who makes minimal mistakes but doesn't necessarily take too many shots down field. Why would he though? The defense is leading is leading that Titans squad thus far and they've only got one loss on the year after Brett and the Jets knocked them off.

Warner's role is a little different. He's getting up there in age but is still a gunslinger. He does take shots down field. Why wouldn't he? Especially since he's got weapons like Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald. He has done a great job of turning this franchise that was known as the laughing stock on the NFL into NFC contenders. They currently hold a record of 7-4 and are far above the rest of the NFC West.

As the season draws closer to a close, both the Cardinals and Titans will likely finish first in their divisions and enter the playoffs. Teams better be on the lookout for them and not think they have it wrapped up because if you want to go all the way, you don't want to mess with experience.
